Some Hibs gossip

Imagine trying to share a link to that shite!

Also a shame to hear Combe being replaced, but, he's been here a while now, change isn't always bad.

Might replace Combe with someone that could improve Rockys distribution....

I did say If True.

Craig Samson
Former Kilmarnock and St Mirren I think?

Went to Sunderland with Jack Ross.

I'm toying with you, but it's well known their links won't work here.

Was that not rumoured months ago?

I'm not sure tbh, but it makes sense that he wants a team he's used to working with.

Flo possibly off to Hull or the Zombies.

He was linked with us when Ross came to us.

Aye Hun media has started.
Apparently a cut down price of £150k and we've already rejected a bid from Hull..
Dunno where that came from ?‍♂️

Do you think as we are looking to make cuts we may sell our asset making players?

Flo has to go as he won’t ever be accepted back, if Livi want 2 million for Dykes surely we can get more than £150k for this prick.

If Flo goes then we are left with Doidge and Gullan up front. He will have to bring in another striker.
IMO we will be bringing in players to replace some of the players who have already left the club (and there are 7 of them), however they will be players on the same wages as the current squad and possibly lower. We need to have a competitive squad for the season. I reckon 2 or 3 of the development squad will be promoted to the first team squad and we will hear about that soon.

I think for players we want off the books... Flo, yes. Definitely.

Not your Martin Boyles or Scott Allan's though.

I really hope we can hold onto Boyle, I think there will be interest in some of our players tbh.

Boyle might have been looking to leave this summer if a big move came up anyway, just have to wait and see.
Reckon it’s all out of our hands now

Maybe that’s the reason Ross wants more pace in the team if Boyle does leave.

I dont think many teams will be spending money to try and sign anyone.
We're more likely to lose everyone next season on a free.

Aye, I wouldn't argue that, but I still don't see many clubs offering for players just now.

I see on that article redundancies are offered.. Are players within their rights to walk when reduced wages are offered? Wouldn't want to be involved in those conversations.

Everyone else has had to take cuts to preserve their jobs, football is in a completely different planet though.

Tough times are coming

We need that pace with or without Boyle. One flying squirrel isn't enough.
Could well have been the chat though. Wasn't there a celtic rumour at the turn of the year?

We’ve got a fair few players that were signed from English clubs on a decent wage,be interesting to see what happens next.

If players want to leave I would hope we got something for them rather than losing them for nothing as you say. I would expect to see loads of decent players available on a free we just have to make our moves quickly if they match what we are looking for.

When you delete a chunk of the message, dont delete the /quote at the end in brackets, confuses things ha!

I'm hoping we sort out our wage situation or we're bringing nobody in at all, I get that morally not signing while not paying is good n all, but we need a squad.

Aye he was as Lenny thought highly of Boyle, as @PILTONSTANY says we have English players on decent wages so it will be interesting to see what happens with them.

Haha, Don’t know what happened there, when Flo leaves we will need another two strikers, but we may have to free up some of the English players to bring others in.

It might not be as easy to move them on as that sounds.
We're either tearing up contracts or hoping someone comes willing to pay.

I actually thought we were gonna be okay through all of this.. now I'm starting to worry.

So did I to be honest, we just have to do what is best for the club at the moment. I am sure wages will be sorted and hopefully we have interest from clubs in England for the players that Ross doesn’t want, it’s going to be interesting and I would expect other clubs in our league will be in a worse position than us.

Stoke and Huddersfield seemingly interested in Boyle.

I think having a lawyer who specialises in Employement Law on the baord might come in handy on that one?

I think Boyle will go. He’s 27 so now is the best chance for him to earn a massive life changing contract, especially off the back of two serious knee injuries.

I hope if he goes it’s down south and we get a very good fee for him.

I would normally be in agreement with you on this HZ, but this virus may have put paid to 'life changing' wages/ signing on fees for a while.
I'm not saying he wont be far better off financially with either of those clubs, simply the numbers wont be as impressive as they once were.
Put it like this , he wont starve.

Think Boyle will go, this would be his chance to earn a very good wage for his family and probably get Hibs a very good fee, be sad to see him go mind you

In Scotland yes, they are still chucking money about like there is no tomorrow in the top leagues down south.

This is what I'm hoping for too.
I think Boyle will go, if theres interest and its serious then who can blame him.
He's more than worked for his shirt while being here so I could only wish him the best. Cup winning legend that he is.

Next part.. what's a reasonable price given the climate and his contract situation..?

A year ago, to about January I'd have tried holding out for about 1 to 1.5M
I'd imagine that would be hard to get now.. Clubs down south will be well aware of us looking at reduced contracts, redundancies etc.
Our bargaining power is falling away by the day.

another player that certainly got us.

I think we can still hold out for 1-1.5m, full international with pace to burn that can score and change a game for a team.

I'm not so convinced. Yes, on paper without doubt.
But how do you say no to him if a club comes offering him an increase and full wages, when we can lose him for free next summer, precontract in January.

It's a tough spot. Not that I think he would cause a problem, but everything has changed.
Hopefully theres a few clubs after him and we can use that to push the price up a touch.

Indeed.

Having no crowds won't affect them. Might even save them money.

Weird.

You’re right there he won’t starve. You make a good point as Championship clubs will have to cut their cloth as well.

A certain rag reporting That Michael oneils stoke ready to make a £1mil swoop for Boyle

I'd bite their hand off at that. Be gutted to see him go, but that'll definitely soften that blow.
Much better than a fire sale take what we can get kinda scenario.

Same, it’s good money and he deserves to have the chance to go and earn big money. Hope he gets a good club.

Martin Boyle has been a superb player for Hibs. I am in a bit of a minority because even when he first arrived I thought he was a really good player. I know the general opinion amongst fans was that he was a bit of a headless chicken with no end product. However straight away it was clear he had pace and tenacity which is a massive asset in the modern game. His overall game has came on leaps and bounds in recent years especially when Neil Lennon was at Hibs. He has improved hugely and added improvements all over the place. Now a full internationalist who has been at Hibs for five years, he probably feels now is the time to move on and join an English club (or Celtic) which will offer him far more money and a higher profile. It will be sad to lose Martin as not only has be been a terrific player for Hibs, he is an engaging character and the game in Scotland is short of such people.
I have no worries if he goes. We will replace him and Hibernian and life will go on. Hibs could certainly do with any money they can get just now, and hopefully some of it can be re-invested into the first team as that is going to be the absolute priority this summer.
