Because broadly speaking nationalist ideology is a mix of:How can someone who wants their nation to be independent not be described as a nationalist?
Ooo... I thought Scotland and independence was what was being discussed here.Because broadly speaking nationalist ideology is a mix of:
- Belief that own nation is superior to other nations
- A desire to promote own nation's interests even to the detriment of others
- Unswerving loyalty to own nation
None of those apply to me. I accept there's an alternative narrow definition of nationalism which is specific to seeking independence. I don't like that definition though, for the simple reason that it can be unclear which one you're talking about.
However as I have said repeatedly hear not said that the SNPs position on Her Majesty as the Head of State in an Independent Scotland is a fucking disgrace pandering to Scottish Loyalists . Rocky was the only person on here to have the balls to accept this and salute him. Any other supporter of Independence, avoiding the term which gets some folk incandescent, agree with Rocky, as I do.
