This is the new extension on the urban tram link from the city centre of Freiburg out through the suburbs to SC Freiburg’s new stadium that’s currently under construction, right across from the regional airport. There’s also an extension of the nearby autobahn towards the new stadium and huge amounts of parking. I don’t think the airport is capable of taking passenger jets at the moment but, knowing the Germans, this too is probably earmarked for upgrade in the near future. Currently you have to fly to Basel airport and transfer by coach.
This is how football fans should be catered for in the 21st century.

Didn’t realise they weren’t just renovating the existing old school stadium. Wasn't the best for away fans but a great place for a scoop pre match.

Freiburg, Basel and Mulhouse - 3 countries - were all quoted for that airport

The coach transfer is excellent. Takes just under an hour straight into the central station. Trams everywhere and like you say, a great Altstadt for biers.
The new stadium is on the opposite side of the city from the current one and loads of room for expansion.
Been to Freiburg twice and still haven’t seen a match as they’ve been away both times.
