If I'm understanding Martin Lewis right folk who have been made redundant recently can still get furlough through their former employer. Those guys could've had another few months if furlough had been extended sooner
Encouraging news indeed. This seems significant, it's unusual for vaccine trial info to be issued as a breaking news alert. Mon the vaccine.

Hmmm. A quick read leaves me a bit confused about just how ‘successful’ this trial is. If I read it correctly 8 out of 94 ‘positives’ had taken the vaccine yet only 10% of the trial were given the vaccine. If I read that right then per capita the positive rate is pretty much the same? Must have read it wrong. Will read again...This seems significant, it's unusual for vaccine trial info to be issued as a breaking news alert. Mon the vaccine.

I read 38500 and odd have had 2 doses and 164 of them then caught the virus.Hmmm. A quick read leaves me a bit confused about just how ‘successful’ this trial is. I'm a bit confused where folk are seeing these numbers, although I think the article has changed a few times since I posted it. I've only seen that 94 people have caught it and around 38,000 have had the vaccine twice, with 43,000 enrolled in the trial. If I was guessing, and rounding the numbers to make the sums easier for my wee brain, it's probably something like:
Could be miles off but that's my take on it.
- 44,000 enrolled for trial
- 4,000 got placebo, 40,000 got vaccine
- Of the placebo group, 40 caught covid, i.e. 1%
- Therefore you'd expect that 400 of vaccine group would get the virus, but only 40 did.
- Hence 90% effective but that percentage won't be confirmed until 164 people total have caught the virus.
Will be back in my seat for next season KOThey wouldn't have announced it publically if they were not sure of the figures.
This is a major breakthrough, no doubt about it.
I doubt it will be a nightmare. They've already said NHS workers and over 85s are at the front of the queue and the winter flu jab was apparently a dress rehearsal for the next tranche. Its never been the intention, as far as I've seen, to prick the whole population. If it is genuinely 90% effective that is very impressive.
The logistics of how to distribute this, and how to prioritise who gets it, are going to be a nightmare.
That looks right. I was half reading it.I'm a bit confused where folk are seeing these numbers, although I think the article has changed a few times since I posted it. Mind it'll be Boris's pals arranging it...I doubt it will be a nightmare. These guys seem like they know what they're talking about better than my guesses:That looks right. I was half reading it.
Yes, the vaccine is really on its way
It looks like the Pfizer breakthrough is the real dealunherd.com
Watch the tories make a total Jeremy of delivering it whilst diverting millions to their family and friends account.Very concise and helpful.

They can transport it in their non existent ferries in big fuck off imaginary super freezers. Can I have £10000000 for making that up or has that already been claimed? They've already said it needs to be kept at a very low temperature (-70c) which rules out many places here from storing it and the UK is also lacking in the necessary refrigerated vehicle types needed to distribute on the scale required.
Depends, are you married to a Tory MP?They can transport it in their non existent ferries in big fuck off imaginary super freezers. Can I have £10000000 for making that up or has that already been claimed?
Good point. Stick Bawless Johnson on that list.Watching Anderson Cooper on CNN. Scary cannot begin to describe it. 250,000 deaths, 1500 yesterday, over 100,000 new Covid cases every single day.Trump who is still President is saying the square root of fuck all. His latest tweets are about Fox News ratings. He has not mentioning Covid for over a week. Not met with his Covid Action Team since August! If there was a queue of people in recent times who were responsible for unnecessary deaths, he would be third in line behind Blair and Bush in my opinion.

Breaking
Dominic Cummings to leave the stinking ship before the end of the year.
The 'men in grey suits' are getting ready to oust the clown I reckon.I think there's a chance Boris himself might quit in the next few months.
I think the ‘puppet masters‘ as you call them put the clown up for PM on purpose. That way he takes all the flack while they line their pockets and nae *&*^ bothers them. Hes too fuckin stupid tae realise.Don't know if that's good or bad, that wee shit getting his jotters.
Looks like another (bigger) puppet master is pulling Boris' strings now.
Nope. She had the whip taken away. She’s still an MP but is independent. Whether she’s still a card carrying party member, who knows? On the subject of Covid miscreants , is Margaret Ferrier still an SNP member ?
