Capitalism worked for Sir Tom Farmer
You can point out flaws in the current state of global capitalism without wanting every product you buy made in a garden shed y'know.

I'm sure there is a balance where workers rights can be protected, modern slavery is eradicated, wages at the bottom are fair and businesses behave in an environmentaly sound way at a small cost to billionares but you can still get your car fixed.

I refuse to get involved in arguments about Tom Farmer 🤪

You can't get better

One thing for sure this discussion has shown is that Jordan Peterson is correct in his assertion that climate change will not unite us

Who does? Why would you?

Last weekends Brazil (of all places) race fully offset the total emissions the race caused.
Really? That's very impressive. How did they do that?

@Hectorhib is probably right!

I never looked into it but it could be around planting trees etc., not using single use plastic, recycling everything that isn't nailed down, moving fans by electic transport and the likes.

There's really innovative stuff down the line.

Sport does use plenty plastics. I've noticed in marathon races some clubs now give out water in paper cups rather than plastic bottles Also a lot of races are not giving out medals as standard.

Care work is extremely wasteful though.The community carers use on average 4 disposable gloves on every visit and 2 aprons. Masks are also compulsory now. I was one run a couple of years back where we were going through a box of disposable gloves every two or three days..none recyclable. Take that into the whole country there are millions of PPE being discarded every day between home visits. Hospitals care homes ambulance police etc And nothing being done to figure out a better way of working..

I don’t think we’ll get to a point where there is no single use plastic in the near future. However if we’re a at point where PPE in relation to health is the only area where it’s used, that would still be a massive improvement on the current situation.
