No, but I entered the wrong code and it bumped me, so it must be cross-referencing the codes against some list was my thinking? Reckon you might be ok.

If it doesn’t accept it the good thing is the approved test kits are only about15 quid now. Coming back from oz the start of April the kit cost me (my work) 200 bucks!

Yes I paid £15, turns out the company who my family used only last month are now not on the list!

@Hibee Kev Cheers for that. Having now taken a closer look at the boxes, it seems the ‘use by date’ is long past, so it’s a moot point.

I mentione previously on this thread that spain and itsly have far fewer deaths now than the uk . Just found out that spain for example take covid far more seriously than boris does . E.g. you have to wear masks in shops and even in the street , whereas boris says its up to you if you wear a mask .scotland a bit stricter with their maskwearing rules

Why does the uk government not have briefings/updates on covid anymore ? Perhaps it’s because the figures are so bad
Of the three European countries hit worst by covid , here are yesterdays daily numbers :-
France:- cases-12478. Deaths-58 Italy:cases-6032, deaths-57
Uk :-cases-33,117. Deaths - 262 .
the reason might be that england has totally opened up society with no restrictions Scotland , while still having some restrictions , is coping slightly better .
Vaccines have obviously made a difference but to remove all the protocols is not the answer .
When the NHS gets overwhelmed again watch for another u-turn from Boris

That's Austria going back into full lockdown for 20 days, and mandatory vaccines from February 2022.
They have had a very poor take up of the vaccines there, that's the main reason this has happened.
Hopefully we don't have to go back into full lockdown. I don't think we will to be honest.
Cases will be rising steadily now everywhere as we get more and more into Winter, but that is only to be expected at this time of year.
Vaccine take-up has been quite good in the main in this country, but it's vitally important that people get the booster jag when offered.

You don't even need to have taken a lateral flow test to get 'evidence' of a negative. If you report a negative test you'll get a text or email confirmation back, doesn't necessarily mean you have actually taken the test to begin with.

You really think a high percentage of people are going to test positive then lie about it so that they can go to a nightclub and infect other people? That's proper psychopath behaviour. Not saying it won't happen but there isn't a public health measure out there that's 100% foolproof. They all rely on the fact that people, in the main, aren't total c**ts.

Nah I’m not saying they are all I was doing was pointing out there is a massive flaw in the system. Don’t even have to upload an image of test as proof. To me each one should have a serial number you put in and upload a pic of it then it sends out negative test result, that’s what I had to do for the one I had on my holidays earlier in the year

It's a percentage game - if you force people to report a lateral flow test then by definition they will have to a) order lateral flow tests and b) open a fresh one so they can report it against its unique code. Once you've got that far you may as well do the test. Without the rule a high percentage of people just wouldn't bother.

To be honest I don’t think it’s overall a bad idea as I think now people that aren’t vaccinated will at least do the test and have that as proof where as now I can bet majority are just chancing it and going to games, clubs etc where they probably will be let in without being checked anyway so st least they might start actually doing tests firsts

Apparently Pfizer and Moderna are now geared up to code their vaccine for new variants and get it into mass production within 12 weeks. Hopefully they've already started sequencing this one in case it does turn out to be bad. I assume they wouldn't have to go through full trials given that it's just a tweak to an existing vaccine.

This variant does seem to be worrying the scientists but I'm sure I read before that if the spike protein mutated enough to evade vaccines it'd also mean that it had mutated enough that it'd struggle to enter cells. Time will tell I suppose.
