A paper reporting he’s getting the bullet
Disappointing.A paper reporting he’s getting the bullet
The S*n I know, but looks like Mathie is for the chop.
Must be the case Shirley.New CEO perhaps thinks we can do better?
Fuck knows why link isn’t working but it’s in S*n that Mathie is away
That’ll be why then. Wasn’t aware. Will story copy and paste? We don't allow links to that fucking scabbing rag.

I’ve no problem with them bringing in new folk. New CEO on the face of it seems an upgrade on LD so I’d assume they are planning the same with the sporting director. Staleness is not a good thing.
97 now.You can do that, we just don't give them any links.
Justice for the 96
Funny, watching him and Ron walking round the pitch before the Ross County game remind me of Duff and Gray.

I’m too young for Duff and GrayYou can do that, we just don't give them any links.

No links here, but its in the red top rags.
If so we may as well pack it all in. If Mathie is off we need better not some speculative nepotistic punt.Wonder if Ron Gordon's son is lined up
I think he’s being wide here tbh,no mind all the ITK folk saying Rons laddie would be CEO?If so we may as well pack it all in. If Mathie is off we need better not some speculative nepotistic punt.
Yip I'd be amazed if such a clever man as Ron Gordon is would indulge in such nonsense.I think he’s being wide here tbh,no mind all the ITK folk saying Rons laddie would be CEO?
I think the European capitulation wasn’t what the Americans had in mind. I wonder if we spent the whole budget. There might have been hard questions about the academy, given that Croatian mob had around half their 23 man squad under 21.Yip I'd be amazed if such a clever man as Ron Gordon is would indulge in such nonsense.
I'm thinking though that Mathie is paying the price for not generating some cash this summer....
Aye its a difficult one to speculate on without knowing what is going on behind the scenes with any certainty.. To be fair to Mathie over the course of his time I think he's got more right than wrong, all be it our negotiations etc seem to be torturous at times. The last window it seemed an open secret amongst agents we were keen to sell Doig. Nobody was biting tho' and we didn't receive a serious offer as far as I'm aware. Whether that curtailed our business and we had to reassess our targets, I don't know.I can't quite get my head around this. Too much of a stretch to suggest that the head coach isn't happy with the window and as such there's a fall guy? It's possibly the most important role at the club. I sincerely hope it's not a cost cutting measure.
I also think that he could be paying a price for not selling an asset. Seems pretty obvious and known Hibs planned recruitment around a player departure.
I'm just a punter with opinions. Mostly probably unintelligent opinions. However, at Tynecastle I'm watching the gadgie we've signed on loan from Hull lost and struggling and speculating in my mind why we signed him. Doesn't score. Isn't a target man to play off Nisbet with Doidge out. Doesn't appear to look to go past players. And this was the best our recruitment could come up with.....Musing….
I think the Americans have probably reviewed hibs operations and struggled to understand role responsibilities snd overlaps. Maybe even have a clear idea of the structure they want and how to achieve it. A bit of friction has seen a lot of key staff leave rather than take on different roles.
change is the only constant, it might not be all bad

Maybe Ross and Mathie just didn’t work well together. It happens sometimes. That's fair comment.
The manager made it pretty public where he felt we needed to strengthen, and it's pretty obvious he didn't get what he wanted.
I'm not sure why he made it public though. Just honest and transparent with the media questions? Or putting pressure on the recruitment team?
Either way, he must be at best a bit irritated, at worst pretty pissed off.
Hibs did very well to hang on to our best players, but our claims that we would only take players who added to the quality, and not just the numbers.... well, I'm not so sure.
The young defender sounds a good 'un, and the Yankee lad too. But I think Jack and the fans were expecting a bit of quality in the striking department, and if anything we are weaker there than before.
Very true.Maybe Ross and Mathie just didn’t work well together. It happens sometimes.

The other thing I remember from Ron's last interview was him making a point of saying we seem to be a bit local in the markets we look for players and he'd like us to consider looking further afield. We haven't really done that other than Mueller. Don't know if he'd look to bring someone in with more experience of international transfers tho, who knows.
Spot on assessment I think. I did think that Jack Ross so publicly saying what he was saying in terms of what he wanted/needed was interesting. And revealing...That's fair comment.

From some of the comments made by Ron Gordon earlier I also think that (despite me congratulating Hibs on keeping the best players) it was anticipated that we would sell at least one - Doig. Possibly that would have funded other deals, and maybe it all fell apart when the ‘done deal’ didnae get done!Spot on assessment I think.
