Will we need a vaccine passport to attend Easter road?

I’m really, really sceptical about this.

I have the confirmation I've had both jabs from the NHS online service. It states specifically; my name, DOB, when I received each jab etc. Would that not be sufficient or is this something else I'll need to pay for?

It sounds like the same thing?

I'd imagine they will create an online QR code or something.
I do have the paper copy thing from the NHS

I'd rather this than restrictions

I read somewhere that the online QR code will be available from Friday.

It'll be interesting to see what vaccine uptake does in the next couple of days. If it goes through the roof like it did in France then the announcement will have done its job whether the actual passport requirement is enforced or not.

Knew they would do this...

I've got the paper copy, would that not suffice ?

I can see this being an administrative nightmare for clubs.

If you've already bought your season ticket and not had your first jab you'd be gutted.

Absolutely ridiculous. RIP sanity.

I kept the bunff they handed me when I got my jab.Never really looked at it,don't really know what it contains. Can't really remember where I laid it,guess it'll surface after a quick search.

Good shout. Uproar will see them U turn.

Surely only a person qualified in the medical proffession should only be allowed anything to do with your medical history, i think this is a farce.

Agree with this. The prospect of my medical information being scanned into a system to enter a football stadium doesn’t sit well. I don’t believe their data use and retention protocols will be great… not just Hibs btw.

Good. They should be taking it when offered imo

The only information necessary will be the fact you've been vaccinated?

No one really cares about your vasectomy.......

Can’t force people too, same as they can’t force someone to take the flu jab. I’ve had both mine, but I don’t agree with vaccine passports or such schemes.

I wonder how many of our squad are double vaccinated, this could potentially affect them playing

Yes, I agree with you both.

I think that logistically the easiest way to do this is to electronically attach your vaccine history to your ticket.

I absolutely wouldn’t trust my football club or the government track and trace with this. I won’t be going to Easter road for the foreseeable.

Nope, cant force anyone, but its selfish, why should folk that want to protect others suffer.
" oh its just a bad flu " then they die!

Given that your vaccine history is already stored in the NHS database wouldn't the government be more likely to look there rather than sneak up behind a steward at ER?

Correct.

How far can this type of shit be taken?.... what? you've not had your flu jab, tsk tsk, your not getting in.... kicking this door in bodes awfully going forward.

A QR code , proof shown to ticket office to tick box update season ticket job done.

Everyone has the choice to be vaccinated or not but don't punish those that have been vaccinated to protect others

Honestly seems like shooting in the dark. People are freely mixing already. What really is the difference whether a stadium has 9.5k supporters in it or 10.5k? In fact if it was Hampden with 10.5k the place would seem empty, where it was say St Js park with 9.5k it would be close to capacity. Further to this we know the vaccine does not stop the spread anyway. Just making it up as they go along now. Also I checked a flight info for travel abroad, it quoted a test for £110, seems a tad excessive as I get regular testing through work (samples sent to lab) so why can't they accept that as proof? Or is this a way to protect against fraudulant claims?

Correct, its not compulsary to get it and also doesnt stop the spread of the virus, your still going to spread it anyway, nightmare for clubs.

Theres players out there that dont have it at all, again thats there human right to decide not to get it like it is for you or me.

Re players and coaching staff needing passport vaccine: Still unclear if they will be exempt. I’m told player uptake of vaccination, to date, is pretty low in Scottish football.

They probably are making it up as they go along.
A bit like the development of this bloody virus.
Which , in case it has gone unnoticed, is hospitalising people in ever increasing numbers.
Killing quite a few too.

Why is it low?

What I’m getting at is making entry to a stadium a one check process.

If you make it two step - that is you have to
show evidence of vaccine to a steward, and then scan a ticket you will slow entry to the stadium. I’d guess that it would take roughly twice as long to get in.

that’s why I think logistically one scan which covers ticket snd vaccine history is the only realistic proposition, or providing capacity to scan 20,000 vaccine qr codes in addition to the ticket entry scanners.

The Scottish Governments attitude towards football and it's supporters has been bloody awful. I am buggered that after all the time that I have diligently isolated, obeyed every dictact, twist and turn, that I will be used as a pawn in Sturgeons game to get people to vaccinate.Fuck that.

This has clearly got absolutely nothing at all to do with Covid spreading in football stadia.

I will definitely not be that pawn and will not be getting this. My season ticket will go back on hold again until this hopeless bunch and their Green pals boot this intae touch.

I'm not sure they'll even scan it tbh, think it'll be a case of waving it in front of a steward (if it even ever gets implemented which I remain unconvinced about, especially if there's a big uptake in vaccines in next few days). I believe that's how it works in France and the only real control is that if you're caught using a vaccine passport that's fraudulent you can get a fine of 130 euro or so. I think spot checks are few and far between though.

It's clearly designed to motivate people to get vaccinated rather than to directly control the virus. There's no infrastructure behind it and it's not aimed at the main places where the virus spreads. Even if it were, tests would probably be a more effective way to reduce transmission.

Let's hope it achieves the main aim, otherwise what a waste of time, effort and goodwill.

Seen a figure of less than 50% of 18-29 year olds vaccinated. Not convinced this will encourage the young to get vaccinated.

But its cart and horses again. They just had a big festival in Dalkeith and several other areas around the UK, backtracking and isolating again probably wont get us anywhere as over 80% of the population are already vaccinated but soon as we come out of lockdown the causes increase massively, why do we think it would be different next time?

Yes we might save some lives but the crippling effect on the economy and mental health might pale that into insignificance. On top of that their looming now at a new strain from Colombia they reckon is even more resistant to vaccines. Seems like we might as well get used to living with it and continuing studying cures and prevention.

They gave the go-ahead only a fortnight ago for football stadiums to open up to full capacity...why did they do that if they are now saying they are dangerous places ?

This is a deceitful move which has been made purely to strong arm young people into getting the vaccine. I don't think it's workable and I have doubts it will actually go ahead.

If it saves lives I’m ok with it.

Out here in Alberta the uptake of the vaccine first shot was so long the made it into a kind of lottery/draw/ raffle whatever way you like to call it.
When you got your first shot your name was automatically put into a draw for a chance of a million dollars, there were 3 prizes like this, then supposedly other prizes of entry to Calgary Stampede and other things. I never ever heard who won it, our Provincial minister and AHS ( Alberta health services ) have gone strangely quiet the last couple weeks, then again it's election time soon .

I don't think any government moves to deceive on their Corona policy but they inevitably are subject to the vagaries of infwction.

The Delta variant dealt out a bunch of new cases juat as we were relaxing aftwr thw recent sharp drop.

Same here in NL and elsewhere.

Believe me, I am not one to forgive these mainly right-wing regimes on anyrhing but this public-health-during-pandemics point.

They're only human.

So, we quite often get crowds of say 13,000. So if you take out the not fully vaccinated, and end up with a crowd of say 8,000, then no one in that 8,000 then needs to prove their vaccination status presumably, because it's under 10,000? And then, could you have unvaccinated ST holders come along until it hits 9,999, and then...?

And what about all the bairns?

Then there's the ethical question, which is a deeply concerning can of worms. This is an egregious overreach, plain and simple. And the "bUt iT sAveS LiVEs" argument is now, I'm sorry, irrelevant -- it can't be shown to have a meaningful enough effect to justify it, so it shouldn't be happening.

This virus is here to stay, in one form or another, and always was from minute 1 -- it is already long past time that we accept that fact.

This doesn't apply to people who are unable to take the vaccine.

There is a relatively small percentage, but a fairly hefty number in real terms, of people who won't take the vaccine.

It's come to the stage, in my opinion, that the Delta variant is now pretty much out of control. We need to reduce the numbers getting the virus, taking up hospital beds and ultimately being dead! There's also the implications of more and more people ending up with long covid and that alone will impact the NHS for everyone.

Something needs to be done.

We need restrictions of some sort to impede the spread.

Do we restrict everyone in a lockdown of sorts, including those who have done as much as they can do and having the vaccination, civic duty call it what you like.

Or do we restrict the few?

By the logic of your argument @Jack , which is in line with the Scottish Governments, surprise there, it must be a resounding Yes. Close nightclubs, play football behind closed doors again, if they are serious. They know that this is a damp squib. People who unwisely decline to be vaccinated are foolish, however this in my opinion, will be totally ineffectual.

I travel by public transport. Numerous maskless numerous young gadgies also do too daily , who may or may not be vaccinated in a space which anyone will correctly argue is more confined than terraces at ER. Am I going to see me having to presenting my bus pass and passport before I can get on in future? I am safer at ER than an ERT bus. I know it, you know it and Sturgeon and everyone in the Gasworks know it.
This is the illogical actions that are presented to us when politicians are the pissing in the wind.
