Both linked with Aberdeen.

We've better.

McGrath is an excellent player.

I’d rather we were looking at someone younger than Declan Gallagher, who for me is good but over-rated.

Don’t know much about McGrath other than his very good goal return, although most of them are penalties.

We will certainly need to bring in at least one central defender over the summer. I think Porteous will be one of those sold on if we can get a decent offer. I also doubt Darren McGregor will be able to play much if at all next season. Gallagher is a good solid centre half but who knows our recruitment team may have already identified better quality players to come in which are within our price range.

I reckon Sir David will want to move on to a club where he can get regular football. It may be that Daz will also look to wind down his career with a move into coaching.
Neither will be ‘moved on’ but the decisions will be taken by the players.
Hard acts to follow.

I think we'll assess our options more when the season ends. Securing third, being in Europe and potentially selling one or two of our asset's will allow us to bring in better quality than those two players mentioned. Ron talked about Europe and even Champions League when he took over, I like his vision.

Fact we turned down big money in January shows his priority is on the pitch, not the bank balance.

Those two and maybe a couple others would make excellent make-weights when dealing with smaller clubs for their best players. Very few bottom 6/top Championship sides would have better.

The laddie Kerr from St J is a good central defender

And a Hibby.

We should definitely go for Kerr.

Jason Kerr has been consistently good for St Johnstone. I think we’ll see him in a green jersey at some point.

Seemingly going down south.

Aye, was a few month ago before all the reports started cropping up.

We should go for McGrath especially as Murphy is injured again.

What's the injury timetable?
I'd give Mackay a chance to stake a claim. Scott didn't shine out left in his chance at the weekend, but he's no used to playing here yet, think he's quite likely to continue too

Scott Burns saying that McGrath likely to be going to Sunderland

Not been said but Scott looked very average at the weekend. I'd say Mackay too hasn't impressed much. Both no doubt good players but both are going to take time to find their feet.

That's not gonna happen unless they get game time.
I'd use them, they're here and need to get up to speed.

Don't think we need to be signing another wide player in this window though.

Surely we can beat Wigan to this signing, £500k is a really good price for Kerr

Not sure, but his constant injuries are a concern for me, McGrath has SPL experience was a standout in their recent game, maybe a player plus cash could persuade St Mirren

Depending in where he lands in this pay scale

I think we can compete tbh.

Wigan are skint so I cannot see them offering higher wages.

If we can't match that then we're having a laugh thinking we are ever going to challenge seriously...

I did say I think we can. I also think we should try, if that's the number, go for it. He's worth it.

I don't think wigan are a better option than Hibs, not after checking out the wages on that site.

Only 3 or 4 on wages above our structure.

McGrath playing well against Portugal and set up the goal

He played very well, few great balls up to Connolly on the break. Won't be long before JDH gets a call up but Stephen Kenny is more familiar with McGrath from their Dundalk days, probably why he gets the nod.

So we mibbes tried but he wanted too much money?

He had probably already committed himself to Hearts....but yes, they will probably be paying him more money than we were prepared to do.

RE McGrath, I thought he sounded a bit pissed off that we ere not able to conclude the deal. I think we will be back in during the January window for him either to sign then or do a pre-contract. Same with Jamie McCart.

He certainly didn’t appear to be happy that we didn’t strengthen that “middle to front” area, whether that was McGrath or someone else.

Nice to hear a professional speak - worlds apart from the Sparryheids wittering.

I thought that interviewer did an excellent job too. Respectful but asking the tough questions that we the fans are interested in.

My perception of Jack's responses is that he feels very much part of the recruitment team and strategy and it's not a "them vs him" situation. That could just be because he's a good politician but I don't think so.
