Ok I get many Hibs fans don't care about the league any more, but I care enough to want HIbs to turn up, for Sauzee sake, that was rotten. We played with little fire in our belly, indeed much of the game we were pretty shite. St Johnstone are a negative team, they came to steal a win, they did, gifted to them by a woeful pass from Porto straight to that hun dogshite Middleton, dear fucking me. Aberdeen won today too, two games to secure third.

Then there is the amatuer Hibs TV, £400 for a season ticket, I accept Hibs TV is the best we will get, but the least you expect is the 90 minutes of coverage, not the whole thing going off for ten minutes before half time for everyone. Did they apologise? Overall it was not our day, we miss Nissy for sure, Wright is a waste of a jersey, McGinn has lost his way and Joe and Jackson are nowhere near consistent enough. Thank Sauzee for Martin Boyle and Chris Doidge.

The team

Marciano had almost nothing to do.

McGinn, sorry he has lost his way, defending poor, crossing pretty poor.

Porto, woeful pass otherwise little to do.

Paul, played well enough, wasn't tested much but I admit is not a leader.

Josh, I felt they stopped him playing until the second half.

Gogic played well, we took him after 70 minutes to give Melker a try out before next week. I am not sure.

Joe, lost his way for me recently

Jackson flits in and out too much still, I feel there is something missing

Wright is not good enough for Hibs. Not a scapegoat, a simple statement

I thought Doidge and Boyler done pretty well but nothing came our way.

The subs

Magennis for Wright on the hour, sorry that is a like for like for me, still not sure where Magennis plays?

Melker for Gogic on 70, prefer Gogic but get it

Doig replaced by Stevenson, a like for like.

Bradley for Newell for the last ten, at last trying something different with little time to go.

The Boss

17.15, still no interview. He picked his strongest team, less Wright but Saints beat us but taking one of their few chances and we looked a bit clueless about how to break them down.

Saints

No a good watch are they, boring, close the game down, play on the break but it works. I would make a good bid for Kerr.

The Ref

Was fine, not sure about the penalty at the end? Couldne see on amatuer TV.

Amatuer TV

Shocking that paying fans should lose 10 minutes of coverage. That and the cameraman not following the game, but instead randomly following players around, Cliff and Tam oblivious. Tam's sigh's tell you how Hibs are playing, there were plenty today.

Man of the Match

Only Boyler and Doidgey in the running, Doidge by a bawhair for me.

In summary, we have left ourselves open to Aberdeen catching us, which is piss poor and not good enough, we played without motivation or passion today.

Next up, Dundee United at Easter Road West, fuck only knows what will happen, I feel a bit cheated today.

Hibernian Forever!

Brutal performance, as bad as I have seen, Boyle tightly marked stopped our only threat.

Suppose the only positive today was Dundee United losing to Ross County. Clutching at straws with that but there you go

As per usual an accurate assesment.

Absolutely no idea how Ross expected us to score today. We went out there and were lethargic and showed no desire to try and win the game or get at St Johnstone.

We need to rip up the midfield for next season...its gash...absolutely gash...slow with no creativity and sits far too deep. Im sick of watching it tbh.

Ross selection and subs an absolute joke today...although given we decided to finish the season with only 2 recognised strikers on our books we didnt half handicap ourselves.

Thought that was a shocking performance , no passion or pride shown at all today. Wright should be nowhere near a hibs team imo. St J came to stop us playing and try and sneak a win and they managed that without any problems.

Is SDG fit to play or not? Why is he always on the bench but seldom if ever on the pitch? McGinn needs rested by the looks of him.

St J are no great shakes but by fuck they've worked out that we aren't either and know exactly how to stop us playing. JR is the proverbial rabbit in the headlights, knows he's getting run over but can't do a fucking thing about it.

In all honesty, Gogic is the only one from our current midfield I'd be unhappy to see leave us. The rest can bolt.

Thanks as ever for the just back and I totally agree regarding Kerr

Gogic is the sitter in midfield but with a 2 of irvine and Newell infront of him we are toiling.. Infact we are going to be in serious trouble.... Both of them want a fortnight on the ball , both ball watch and this was highlighted with newell's booking as he was sleeping from the Saint's throw in.. They both also go AWOL in games when the pressure gets put on Hibs.. Irvine might be away in the summer but I am dreading watching another two seasons of Joe Newell passing sideways, backwards and contributing the square root of nothing every week. Think there for a period in the game where he'd headed the ball forward more times than he'd passed it FFS... This guy is not the answer and it shows how gullible a lot of Hibs fans were when they were all getting excited about him getting a new deal..

Today was a disaster and we can't do much personell wise to change things for next weekend , where if we play like that then it'll be another semi final roasting....

Strange, it was like an end of season dead rubber, but there was plenty for both teams to play for, in the case of them semi final places, for us third place and keeping their place for the semi. Dull game decided by our centre back producing a cut back Boyle would be proud of at the other end of the pitch. Pretty much saw the game as you did. Every week I think for about 5 mins this week I will see what Wright is made off ... beginning to think I already have. I am one of those people you talk about that couldnt give a toss if we finish third or fourth, but I do want to win the cup, so we need to be winning games, or looking like we are going to. We were never winning that today, to be fair unlucky to lose it though. Just got to pick it up for next week ...

The young lad that's been having trial with Man Utd etc... Why no place on the bench as an attacking option 🤔

Thanks for the just back, no really much to add.

I though Hallberg offered more in 20 minutes than Irvine and Newell did between them all game.

Seriously hope Nisbet is back.

Agree on McGinn, which makes Cadden’injury worse.

Wafer thin squad especially forward creative players doesn’t make sense letting Allan go on loan.

Thanks for the report.Agree with what you say.

Worrying when we have offered Newell a new deal, speaking to Irvine about a longer contract. Both bring no fast attacking play to our midfield which is seriously lacking, we are missing a player with bags of creativity, if Allan isn’t going to feature then our recruitment team have a job in their hands finding us someone who can bring that to us. I liked Irvine when he first come into the starting 11 and Newell did show that there was a player in there, although recently both haven’t been good enough and the longer that goes on the more problems it will cause. How did Motherwell manage to secure a new deal for O’Donnell as we certainly missed a trick there.

Bonkers eh, we had no striker options because of one injury.

Bonkers indeed. Losing with 20 minutes to go, no fans, no pressure, give the lad a crack. Must be something about him with all the interest shown.

We were due a performance like that, hopefully out the way today and better next week.

We’ve had a good season results wise. It’s a very poor league. We’ve got three real top level players for the league in our squad (Boyle, Nisbet and Allan), we’ve a couple of real high potential younger players (Porteous and Doig) and the majority of the rest are good honest, solid SPL players.

Will we have any of the five name checked above next year? I can’t say I’m hugely confident we will.

I worry for the semi final next week with no Gogic in the middle of the park. Newell and Irvine for me don’t do it. Irvine has a spark, I’m not even going to go into my opinion on Newell.

Still, we win the cup and finish third it’s been an incredible season. I don’t even want to think about that not happening given the teams in both cup semi finals and the general poor quality of the league over all. Standard of play as opposed to competitiveness.

Good assessment of the game.

St J definitely have our number just now. I never got the feeling we would make a comeback today.

On a positive note, still a massive amount to play for this season.

Not one ounce of creativity, from mid field area for forwards to work with that and kids school defending by the most over rated hibs player in years !!! our home form is nothing short of disgraceful, if we were to lose 3 semi finals in one season ! I’d be hoping we would look in a different direction

I have this fear we finish 4th go out in another semi final and Jack Ross claims we've still had a good season.

He'd be advised to not say that.

However, he thankfully won't need to take that advice....

I. Hope.

Seen none of the game and reading this I’m fuckin glad. Only good thing for me today is Dundee United look worse. Mon the Cabbage!

Is it a motivation issue ???

Porto reminds me a lot of Gary Caldwell who could go from being magnificent one week and then just totally lose concentration the following week and make some shocking error.🤔

That wasn't why the game was lost though as the defense was actually quite strong and Marciano barely had a save to make.✅

Everything went wrong elsewhere as St Johnstone worked out how to stop Doig bombing forward and how to play Boyle through the middle.

Newell and Irvine could just be ignored as they were just so poor.😥.

I didn't see what else the manager could do to change things as he had no attacking threat whatsoever on the bench.😥

Its very much the business end of the season and all he had was the pointless task of throwing on a young laddie or the consistently drab Magennis😥.

Gambling with a proper forward in Gullan or the very experienced and creative Scott Allan would have at least given Hibs a chance of saving the game but they were nowhere to be seen.🤔😉

He'd be advised to not say that.

He can’t come out and say that - he’s already stated that third and a trophy was the goal.

Especially given weakest dons Motherwell and Killie teams plus no gunts. Conditions never been better to get 3rd.

I know what you mean, been thinking similar. I still think we will sneak 3rd. however I’m not confident re cup. Again favourites in the semi stage but after the last 2 semi finals I find it hard to be optimistic...being Hibs though, you never know!

Is it a motivation issue ???
I think its lack of quality and creative players it's like we play with 3 holding midfielders.

That was utter shite today. It's a toss up what was the worst though: the team or hibs TV?? Both brutal.

As much as we'd like to finish 3rd the Cup has to be priority number 1.
Financially the difference between 3rd or 4th is what? A hundred grand (and there's certainly no glory attached to either spot).
The difference between winning/not winning the Cup is 3 to 4 million AND the glory of lifting a trophy.....

'mon tae fuck Hibs don't fuck this up now!

Brutal

The young lad that's been having trial with Man Utd etc... Why no place on the bench as an attacking option 🤔
Because, IMO, he was only on the bench for the purposes of increasing his potential sale value.

Accurate report as always. No urgency and lack of options on the bench.

We so rarely look really up for a game though

It's the way we play now unfortunately it's mental that we are 3rd in the league.
We should be beating a weak saints team though .

Thanks for report M.

too right we should

A bad day at the office. Not insurmountable by any stretch of the imagination. We know Newell and Irvine can play ; some have said as much on this forum. Hallberg can play a bit. Get rid of Wright and McGennis, they've had enough shots at impressing and they just don't. But I still think the old team could see us over the line. Surely Gray has got 60 minutes in him?

Fairer assessment kaiser would be "we've had too many performances like that". I'm no fan of lenny but he was 100% accurate with the boy-band analogy.

We have too many. I just think it’s been a while since we had one.

I am not disputing we are soft, was just trying to be upbeat

I think we may see McGregor back in next week.
