HSL

The major shareholder/owner is a somewhat transient position whereas supporters are forever.

Our time will come again when we have the opportunity to acquire [at least] a blocking share of our club.

RG might even change his position before he becomes the next former major shareholder/owner.

In my opinion once all this covid crap is over HS needs to get itself into a position that makes acquiring that blocking share possible as soon as the opportunity presents itself.

Thanks Daniel.

That seems a really high handed approach by RG.
Why do you reckon this is his approach?

Why do you reckon this is his approach?

I don't know. The previous board/owner had to approve all share transfers and issues, so technically retained the power to block any undesirable transactions.

It also means the previous board/owner had to approve the 10% nominee shareholding which I think is probably held by one person.

The current board/owner know the identity of the 10% nominee. The current owner has controlling stake of 67.23%

Perhaps there is some significance in those figures, perhaps not.

I don't immediately see what difference it makes if fan A or fans group B hold the remaining stake.

I also, don't believe Tom Farmer would have left us vulnerable or sold us to the wrong person.

That’s a good point and one I’ll pass on to the board.

Perhaps an update from Jim and the rest of the board in advance of an AGM on Zoom would be worth setting up and it would give members a chance to ask any questions they have at the moment.
Pleased to say this is something which the board are keen to push ahead with. Likely to be a midweek evening in January sometime once the festivities are out of the way and invites will be extended to all full members for an informal catch up/discussion via Zoom or similar platform.

Details will be shared once we have a date/time confirmed.

Whats so difficult to have 2 different options on the HSL site - Click this one, and your monthly or one off donation goes straight to the account set up to go to hibs, or click here and the money will be held until such times as shares ares available to purchase. 2 different bank accounts.

If extra items need added to the terms of reference, then add them.

is it not that simple? if not why not?

A decision like that can’t be made without consulting the members first and having a vote on it.

Once fans are back in the stadium and there’s a chance to have an AGM I imagine something like what you’ve suggested will be high on the agenda.

£21,814.10 has been contributed to the club in the month of December.

Thanks again to everyone who has supported the club throughout 2020 and especially this month with many other things to think about at this time of the year.

I’m sure we are all feeling the same about this year and are glad to see the end of it.

We have tried to keep low key over the last few months as we are painfully aware of the difficult times that many are experiencing right now. When people are losing their lives and livelihoods, football seems unimportant.

Having said this your Board did not want the year to pass without giving you an update. We also wanted to make you aware of an initiative we have in mind for January.

Today we passed over £21,814.10 to the Club, which represented the donations that we received from you in the month of December. This brings our total donations since the takeover to £287,615.57. Your Board would like to express our sincere thanks for this wonderful generosity, particularly at this difficult period. This has been a tremendous effort.

I’m sure everyone is pleased with the progress that is being made and while we have had a few difficult results we are all desperately keen to see us stake a claim for Europe.

With this in mind we would like to help Jack Ross even further. We are going to try our best to make a donation of £100,000 to the Club for the January football budget. To do this we would like to invite every Hibs supporter to consider making a donation to us to the value of what you would have spent at Hampden for the League Cup Semi Final against St. Johnstone. It may just be the ticket price of £25 but if you are in a position to donate more please do so. Please also remember we are making this appeal to only those folks who can comfortably afford to make such a donation. It would be great if we could get as many as 4000 supporters who are ableto support this initiative.

To make the donation is easy. For existing Members simply sign into your Members’ page and select the single donation amount that you would like to make.

If you are not a Member and have never donated before it is equally easy. Go to our web site at www.hiberniansupporters.co.uk and press the donate button. If you follow the instructions from there to the single donation section, you can select the preferred amount. Please note the system will allow you to make a “donation only” which means that you are not contributing to a Membership of Hibernian Supporters.

As an extra incentive we plan to have a prize draw. Everyone who makes a donation of £25 or more will have their name entered into a draw and one name will be selected at random. The winner will receive a signed and framed shirt ( HSL or normal strip ) by their favourite player.

Finally, on behalf of everyone at Hibernian Supporters can I wish you a happy and healthy New Year.

That's a very good email, well done HSL. Hadn't thought about it in context of the cost of a semi before.

Decent initiative by HSL,will donate

Will donate to this

Information is now on social media, any shares/links in group chats will go a long way.

Let’s make sure the club benefit from reaching another semi final.

I think this is the problem with donations;

results like today will undermine the appeal.

I think that’s the wrong effect, but completely understandable.

So far this season i've put in over 600 quid into Hibs , kudos to those happy to put in more but its not for me i'm afraid

That’s very well put, and fwiw I agree with you.

February's total contribution to the club from Hibernian Supporters was £21,792.22. Thanks as ever to everyone who has contributed and to those who continue to contribute.

I’ve said my thoughts on this loads of time, most disagree which is fair dos.

I hear what you’re saying but it’s a fan’s initiative? If you’ve got some better ideas let’s hear them 👍🏻

HSL can do whatever they want, that’s up to them. I could put money into Hibs, but I’d want some checks and balances or something in return. Hibs aren’t a charity.

I liked the idea of putting money into hibs to buy a group shareholding, so I think that’s a much better idea than adding hibs to the list of charities I support.

but really, this Groundhog Day.

As part of the #RoadToEurope initiative we are really keen to tell some of the stories of Hibs fans who have backed the club during a season behind closed doors.

It doesn't matter if you're a member of Hibernian Supporters, a season ticket holder or usually a walk up fan - it would be great to feature a range of Hibees and tell their stories of watching Hibs at home for a whole season.

You'll need to have access to a Google account to take part, but you can do so by clicking here. We'll feature some of the best ones on hiberniansupporters.co.uk before the end of the season.

Given the huge sums of money donated to the club by fans through HSL this season, wouldn’t it be a good gesture from the club to show their appreciation by donating prizes to HSL to distribute to their members?

you could even run it as a raffle.

prizes could include season tickets, merchandise, advertising. Just a little show of appreciation to the fans.

although, no reason really to put it through HSL the club could run it directly I suppose.

Lots top prizes they could offer as appreciation.
A table at a cat B game hospitality... and a cat A game. 4 places at a table, 2 places.
things that would be greatly appreciated by any fan
A table for a cat A game is about £1500 for 10 ah think. Some prize... but maybe even less numbers, like 5 prizes of x2 seats etc
A table of winners. 5 prizes gor 2 seats all at same table

As part of the #RoadToEurope initiative, Hibernian Supporters will be sharing stories from fans about the season behind closed doors.

The first article is online today and can be read by clicking here, with Peter Gray taking the time to let us know how he's found a whole year away from Easter Road.

If you'd like to have a chance of being featured you can complete the questions here via Google forms and we'll use the best ones before the end of the season.

Informal Meeting for Members

Now that it appears that the most dangerous aspects of the pandemic are behind us we would like to take the opportunity to invite Members to attend an informal Meeting to provide an update on a number of matters.

Due to various circumstances beyond our control we have been unable to have an AGM so this will be a good opportunity to consider the way forward.

The Meeting will take place next Tuesday, 31st August at 7pm. The venue is the HSA at Sunnyside and we are very grateful to the Trustees for allowing us to host this meeting.

While informal, we should remind everyone that this is a Members only event, or those on their journey to Membership.

I don’t think an informal meeting is really the way forward for an organization that is chucking £20k a month at hibs. Hope I can make it to put my points over!

I think it's a reasonable step to be honest. An AGM is due and so much has changed I expect there'll need to be some fairly chunky resolutions to put to the membership. An informal meeting is a decent start to get a sense of what people are thinking, I'd expect that to then be followed up by a survey of all members (the content of which would be based on whatever the key topics were that came out of the informal meeting) and then ultimately some formal resolutions put to the AGM.

I can’t make that date.
Rocky seems a sensible *&*^. So I’ll need to give my vote to some other *&*^.

Looks like their store in Abbeymount has shut. But nice chairs if a tad expensive.

Members of what? The Hibs club or HSL?

For any members who cannot make it on Tuesday, we’ll provide a summary of discussion after the meeting.

If there’s anything you’d like to raise at the meeting, but won’t be there to do so in person, please feel free to drop an email to info@hiberniansupporters.co.uk, PM on here or get in touch via the social media channels.
