No, not the smash 70’s hit by the O’Jays, that daft corner kick routine we’ve started doing. What’s that all about?

I know England tried it at the last World Cup...I guess it prevents the opposition getting touch tight if they’re man marking? Yet to see it bear fruit! ?‍♂️

I though you were about to start a thread on the 70s nights my mate used to put on in Bathgate Regal a few years ago.

Oh hell........

Butcher tried this as well, worked for a very short time

How often do these kind of capers work?
And, if they did, how long could we get away with it?
Not too often I would imagine.

No sure on the actual percentage rate that we've got anything from it. I'm glad they are trying new set pieces.

Wouldn’t work at Easter Road imagine if that dodgy tannoy of ours accidentally blasted out 500 miles Doidge and co would start doing the conga!!????

A few seasons ago Hearts were trying this bonkers offside trap from free kicks. Thought at the time what is the actual point, the risk/reward just wasn’t worth it, much safer to just defend the free kick. Sure enough The Huns caught them out with it at Ibrox and scored, and it was never seen again!

Statistics suggests that a team will get about 3 goals from every 200 corners, and about 1 goal in every 20 comes from a corner

Well say just for arguments sake in a 40 game season Hibs might score 60 goals. 3 of those goals would have come from corners. So 1 in every 20. And during those 40 games they might have won 200 corner kicks (5 a game). So 3 goals from 200 corners. All averages of course. But personally I would look at taking an imaginative short corner every time, rather than a speculative cross into the penalty area, where you are more likely than not to just give up possession.
